Spring in Boalsburg has a way of pulling people outside. Zion Lutheran Church is leaning into that this year with a new free outdoor concert series on the lawn at 305 N Church St in Boalsburg, across from the church, open to anyone who wants to come.

Kicking off the series is Rock Hill Revival this Sunday, May 17, from 4pm to 6pm. The local trio plays a mix of classic and contemporary rock, country, blues, and a few jazz standards. Bring a chair or a blanket, find a spot on the lawn, and settle in.

On June 14, from 4pm to 6pm, The Tussey Mountain Moonshiners — a string ensemble well known around here — will bring bluegrass, old-time, Americana, and enough humor to keep things lively.

Zion Lutheran Church has been a central part of this neighborhood for more than 200 years. Music on the Lawn is part of a broader effort — the church's Grounded in Boalsburg initiative — that looks for ways to bring people together in town. Last October, that meant Trunk or Treat. December brought a Christmas Carol Sing. This spring, it meant a community Bike Safety event with Bike Roost and an Eggstravaganza for families. A steady rhythm of showing up.

The lawn at Zion has always been part of the neighborhood. These concerts are a way of making use of it.

All are welcome. Bring the family, find a spot on the lawn, and enjoy an afternoon in Boalsburg.
